Stacie & Mike’s Engagement Session

The fall is probably my favorite season of the year to shoot engagement sessions.  I love the warm colors this time of year brings and there is something nostalgic that comes with the cooler weather and the changing of the leaves.  I found out that Mike had proposed to Stacie on a park bench in downtown Greenville so we decided we would head there.  Rather than just jumping out of the car and posing them on the bench, I decided to drop them off and let them sit on the park bench while I parked the car.  This gave them a few minutes to reflect back to when he proposed so that I could sneak up on them and capture a “real” moment of reflection.  We escaped the crisp fall wind by stopping by my friend, Jimmi’s building in the West End of downtown.  The inside is incredible with an old billboard painted on the brick interior wall and timber beams.  I love the way the old rustic brick and paint complimented their outfits and reflected so much about their fun loving personalities.  The picture of their shoes is one of my favorites because to me, it tells such a great story about the couple’s individual style.

We decided to finish off the day in a fun way.  We left downtown Greenville and picked up their two pups to get some fun family shots at a nearby park.  Before we left the park, I grabbed a couple of shots of the two of them near a waterfall.  I loved the contrast of the couple sharing a warm moment on a crisp October evening.  It reminds me that there is comfort and safety in the arms of love.

Finally, we closed the session back at Mike and Stacie’s house.  Mike showed me the vintage bike he had bought for Stacie and we decided to use it in the shoot.  Somehow, I managed to convince them, despite their concerns, that it was perfectly safe for both of them to ride on the bike at the same time. :)  Sometimes being goofy and just having fun are the best recipe for any photo session.  Can’t wait for your wedding guys!
