The Not-So Nano Contest – Win A Free iPod Nano! http://jarradlister.com/blog/2010/02/19/the-not-so-nano-contest-win-a-free-ipod-nano/ http://jarradlister.com/blog/2010/02/19/the-not-so-nano-contest-win-a-free-ipod-nano/#comments Fri, 19 Feb 2010 05:51:58 +0000 Jarrad Lister http://jarradlister.com/blog/?p=680

The Not-so Nano Contest- Win A Free iPod Nano

Remember those days of riding in the car with your parents, jamming out to your Walkman and lugging that backpack full of cassettes? Wait. Hold up. Is this still a reality to you? Okay, maybe you’ve moved on from the Walkman to the tech savy Discman. This still leaves you in the technology challenged group, but I’m giving you the opportunity to sneak into the 21st Century.  Now is your chance to win a free iPod Nano. Yep, that’s right! The new Nano has 8gb of memory, that’s over 2,000 songs, up to 8hrs of movies or music videos and you can even capture your own personal videos. All you have to do is send in a photo of you and your iPod substitute.  What is an iPod subsitute? Whatever you use because you don’t have an iPod. What do you use for a portable music player? Or, if you could create an iPod, what would it look like? Maybe you don’t even have a Walkman, so send a pic of your self-proclaimed iPod or anything else that you like to pretend is an iPod. Maybe your cat is your main source of entertainment or your nun chuck collection is getting out of hand so you need a new hobby. Whatever the case may be, we need to see it!  So get off your flower print couch, and into 2010 with the new iPod Nano.  Hey, I’ve even started you off with a great play list from my “Stay Tuned” series, don’t forget to check that out too.

Interested? Here are the details:

  • HOW TO ENTER: Please send your picture to (contest@JarradLister.com) and then announce or post on your Facebook, Twitter or blog the following statement: “Jarrad Lister is giving away a new iPod.  I just entered my pic to win and the voting starts 3/5! http://bit.ly/Notsonano “  Email us your pic including a link back to where you’ve posted about the contest. Once we’ve verified that you’ve posted the contest, you’re entered to win!!!!
  • HOW TO WIN: After you submit your photo and posted the contest on your Facebook, twitter or blog, send your family and friends to www.jarradlister.com/blog to vote for your photo.  The photo with the most votes wins. Tell your friends and family that they too can win a prize just for voting for you. One lucky voter, selected at random, will win a $25 iTunes gift card.
  • Each contestant must submit his or her photo by 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 5th. No exceptions!
  • The photo you submit can be of yourself, your pet or child. Please be tasteful, we don’t want to go blind!
  • Only 1 photo per contestant, so make it count!
  • You may collaborate, but if you win you have to share the iPod. Seriously, who would want to do that?
  • You may send a brief explanation of the submitted photo, but it’s not necessary.
  • Polls to vote will open 6:00 pm Friday, March 5th and will close 5:00 pm Thursday, March, 18th.
  • Only 1 vote per person per day. I know you have more to do than vote 300 times for your own photo.
  • The winner will be announced Friday, March 19th. Yes, we will contact you if you win and ask for your preferred iPod color.
  • Again, the deadline is March 5th, 2010. Entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. So get to it and check out the entries below.

Wait, what’s up for grabs again?

The winner of the Not-so Nano Contest will receive a FREE iPod Nano with 8gb of memory…that’s up to 2,000 songs and 8hrs of video. Crazy huh? That’s not all. The latest iPod also comes with a video camera. (Step aside Flip!) So you can shoot video, listen to Mp3s, store pictures and a bunch of other cool stuff. Want to see more? Check out the details at http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/. Not sure what an iPod is, then you have much bigger problems. Enjoy your tape player.

Can’t wait to see what kind of crazies we have out there!

Please vote for your favorite picture below!

Lindsey & Nick’s Wedding – Charleston, SC http://jarradlister.com/blog/2010/02/09/lindsey-nicks-wedding-charleston-sc/ http://jarradlister.com/blog/2010/02/09/lindsey-nicks-wedding-charleston-sc/#comments Tue, 09 Feb 2010 21:06:06 +0000 Jarrad Lister http://jarradlister.com/blog/?p=658 Charleston, SC doesn’t see many weddings in the month of January as they do in the warmer season, but for Lindsey and Nick, Charleston in January was the perfect place to begin their lives together. The Charleston Place Hotel created the perfect environment for their ideal wedding. Romanced by its atmosphere, the date was set and the invites went out. Lindsey and Nick met while Lindsey was in Chicago modeling for Elite, and since Nick owns several McDonald’s throughout the Windy City,  they decided to make Chicago home. For Lindsey and Nick, it’s about family, friends and having a good time, so I wanted to give Lindsey a traditional bridal shoot, but also take a few shots with a bit of pizazz.  We decided to let lose and get creative. The shots of Lindsey at McDonald’s were priceless and presented to him as a gift on the wedding day. Nick loved them… his beautiful bride throwing back a Big Mac, what more could a man ask for? I love doing these kinds of sessions because it gives me the opportunity to understand their personality and capture who they really are.  The day of the wedding, wasn’t typical Charleston weather, in fact it was miserably cold and windy, making outside photos a bit torturous. So we forfeited the cold and headed inside. Stepping in from the outside was like walking out of reality and into fantasy: No longer cold and windy, but warm, cozy and intimate, setting the tone for the rest of the evening. Lindsey was stunning. Her dress was the perfect reflection of winter and her bold, dark bouquet was just the right addition creating a beautiful contrast for photos. From a candle lit ceremony to a romantic reception, it was a winter wedding beautifully done.

Lindsey and Nick, thank you for allowing me to capture your beautiful day! It was such a pleasure working with the two of you and I’m glad to call you and your family my new friends!  Special thanks to Caroline Cook of Charleston Place Hotel for providing such an elegant location!

If you've somehow paused and asked yourself "what's going on here?" Read the paragraph up top. :)

As most of you know I have a love for photography and comes with it, a love for music. I believe music allows you to escape from reality and lead you to the unknown, with some good finger tapping opportunities of course.  Since I’ve had great feedback on the play lists I’ve posted before, I’m starting something new: A blog series called “Stay Tuned”  will feature my favorite songs of the week! Each week, I’ll post a few favorites of what I’m listening to, and along the way let me know if you have a favorite I’ve missed out on! So “Stay Tuned” and check in often!

Sneak Peek – Lindsey’s Bridal Session – Charleston, SC http://jarradlister.com/blog/2010/01/11/sneak-peek-lindseys-bridal-session-charleston-sc/ http://jarradlister.com/blog/2010/01/11/sneak-peek-lindseys-bridal-session-charleston-sc/#comments Mon, 11 Jan 2010 05:39:10 +0000 Jarrad Lister http://jarradlister.com/blog/?p=557 Lindsey’s bridal session was probably one of the most unique that I’ve shot to date. I met up with Lindsey and her mother in Charleston, SC to capture the perfect picture for her wedding. After shooting at several locations in and around Charleston, I began to learn what great sports they were as we laughed and quoted numerous lines from the movie “The Hangover”. I knew then that we would click. I also learned that Lindsey’s soon to be husband lives in Chicago where he owns around twenty McDonald’s restaurants. So in other words, McDonald’s plays a huge role in their lives. This gave me the brilliant thought and the perfect way to wrap up her session that day.  After capturing the more traditional shots, we drove to John’s Island, SC where a new McDonald’s was just built. I spoke with the manager and got clearance to shoot in around the restaurant. Although we were a little out of place, the people around the restaurant were great and yelled “congratulations!” Lindsey decided to use the shot below as a gift to her fiance Nick. Needless to say, he was blown away and almost to tears. I can’t wait to show everyone the shots of their beautiful wedding. Check back soon for more to come!

For those who are asking themselves, I thought I would clear up a few things. Yes the sky was real, yes she is standing in front of a real McDonalds and yes I used special off camera lighting. :)
